Linking Delphos-German roots
Joseph Lakaemper, burgermeister of Verl, Germany, signs the "Friendship Link" sister city agreement between Delphos and Verl. Also signing the agreement were Delphos Mayor, John Sheeter and Klaus Hoersting, right, president of council of Verl and Charles Carder, left, Delphos council president. The agreement, celebrating a sister city link to share the Delphos Verl heritage, was signed March 31, 1999 at a dinner and reception held at the Delphos Knights of Columbus Hall. Officials from both cities spoke on how the reunification of the two countries came about and exchanged gifts, including a key to the city. Twenty-eight German visitors and over 200 Delphos area residents participated. Also in photo are Bob Ulm, bottom left, master of ceremonies and Maryalice Davey, committee member.
